The New York Times ran a pretty good piece on bicycling in southern Wisconsin. The story made a point of talking about Blue Mounds, one of my favorite Wisconsin landmarks. I thought Blue Mounds and the adjacent countryside was very beautiful, and I never tired of visiting the area.While the area has undoubtedly evolved in the three-and-one-half decades since I was last there, some things have not changed. The Times writer visited Mount Horeb, a town not far from Blue Mounds, and enjoyed an award-winning Wisconsin microbrew. It's hard to imagine Wisconsin without good beer.
The etching was created by Larry Welo, an artist who moved to Blue Mounds from Minneapolis. It's currently hanging in the office of Wisconsin lieutenant governor Barbara Lawton, along with other artwork from Badger State artists.
